Lyle & Miriam Prather
CHAPLAIN LYLE PRATHER, Ph.D is the founder and was the director and senior chaplain of Cowlitz Chaplaincy in Cowlitz County, WA, incorporated as a non-profit organization in 1985.
Chaplain Lyle is an ordained minister with the Assemblies of God. In July, 2010 he received his Masters Chaplain certification with ICPC. He is married, father of four, grandfather to twelve and great-grandfather of four. He is a member of National Christian Counselors Association and holds a Ph.D. in Counseling.
In his years with the Chaplaincy, he has been involved in almost every type of situation imaginable; rape, child molestation, homicide, suicide, mental disorders, death notification, accidents (car, train, private plane), lost persons, drowning, drug busts, domestic violence, neighborhood disputes, job stress for the officers and you name it. He serves the Sheriff’s Department every spring with the 15-Minute Program in Cowlitz County. He taught the Spirituality class at Recovery Northwest an Alcohol and Drug Rehab Center for nearly twelve years, served on the boards of Cowlitz Alcohol & Drug Center, Toutle River Boys Ranch and Substance Abuse Coalition. He is currently a CERT instructor for the Department of Emergency Management for Cowlitz County.
Chaplain Lyle retired from the Chaplaincy July 1st 2012. Pastor Kent Doehne, Pastor of Columbia Heights Assembly of God, asked Rev. Lyle and his wife Miriam to become the Minister of the Celebrate Recovery Program the church started in 2007. March 1st 2013 Pastor Lyle accepted the position.
Chaplain Lyle loves his work and is well trained for most situations. He loves to talk and relate with other chaplains and people of every profession and walk in life. He is a “people person” and gives his time to help others and takes opportunities that arise to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
